Bike-packing in British Columbia; A Photographic Review
A collection of images from a honeymoon/bike-packing excursion in British Columbia, Canada. September 2024.
A collection of images from a honeymoon/bike-packing excursion in British Columbia, Canada. Over the course of a couple weeks in September 2024, my wife and I preceded to sample as many 2-3 day bike packing routes as possible. From Vancouver Island to the Sunshine Coast to the Sea to Sky Corridor, we got to see some of the most beautiful scenery this Canadian province has to offer, riding routes that included; The Cowichan Valley 8, Powell River 10 Lakes Loop, Texada Ridge Runner, and The Sea to Sky Trail from Squamish to Pemberton.
There is no richer travel experience than one lived from the seat of a bicycle and despite seeing a lot in a short amount of time, by the end of this trip, we felt we had barely scratched the surface of this region. Will have to return soon! Thanks for viewing!
Welcome, It Is a Pleasure to Have You
Welcome and thank you for taking the time to view this showcase of my work. I hope that you have already found or will find something meaningful in the images here. This journal entry is an introduction of sorts.
Welcome and thank you for taking the time to view this showcase of my work. I hope that you have already found or will find something meaningful in the images here. This journal entry is an introduction of sorts. It may be helpful for some folks, to know what the purpose of this website is, my long term goals for it, and general information about my work.
What This Is
This website is the product of intermittent work over the last year and a long process of refinement, introspection, and reshaping of how I view my photography. In the last couple years, since diving back into photography as a consistent form of expression, my work has been shaped by one, or a couple, broad goals for what I have hoped to accomplish each year. I find that having at least one general goal, something measurable and realistic, helps to keep me moving forward and in a meaningful direction. My goal in 2022 was to create a recent body of work that I could display along side archived images from the last decade. For this reason, you will see a significant number of images from 2022 presented here. My goal in 2023 shifted from creating work, which I still did, to developing a meaningful platform to share it on, which became this website. The goal became to publish a website that represented my past and current work cohesively, something that I was proud to share and build on. What you will currently find here is a collection of images from the last decade or so, these galleries represent what has and currently interests me photographically, and what I gravitate towards when I have a camera in hand. My vision is that these collections will grow over time, new projects will be presented, and ideas shared through this journal.
The Future
Currently, this website represents a portfolio of my black-and-white work, a selection of images that will gradually be replaced with new work. Long term, this website will help provide a product in the form of gallery-style framed artwork, at some point a fine art framing service, a book project that is currently in progress, and a number of other projects that may come about on this creative journey. Having a full-time career outside of photography, my time and energy is limited, and many times I find making images has to take a backseat to the many other obligations in life. Currently and for the foreseeable future, photography is a passionate hobby, and anything that comes above and beyond creating new images is a bonus.
If you made it through this, good job, and hopefully it added some background or clarity to what you may already know. Thank you again for taking the time to visit this space, and see what I have to share.
